August 18, 2014 (week 57)

Not much happened this week. We are working with a lot of newer people which brings a lot of challenges but there are some people with real potential.

I listened to that talk “Your Four Minutes”. I liked it a lot, it helps you think in a more relative perspective, like one of the things he said was more or less like this, “You will have an eternity to reflect upon the desicions of this life.” That is really true. It also reminds me of Grandpa Ehlert’s quote, “The cheif cause of failure and unhappiness is trading what you want most for what you want at the moment.” If we all made descisions with this perspective, we would pass through difficulty, but life would be a whole lot easier. We suffer so much because of wrong descicions we make. Gratefully the Savior paid the price for so we don’t have to suffer eternally, if we repent.

My Zone Leader told us a story the lst week that I like a lot. Matt and NIck were playing on the rooftop of their apartment building. When Nick the crazier of the two saw a wire from their apartment building to one in the distance. Nick said to Matt, “Hey, you think I could walk there and back on that wire.” Matt said, “No, no you’re crazy don’t do that, you could die.” but Nick went and came back. Matt was like, “Wow, that crazy. I can’t believe you did that.” Then Nick said, “You think I could do it on one foot. Matt again pleaded for him not to go saying once more “No, no you’re crazy, don’t do that, you could die.” but Nick went and came back. Matt once again praised him, “You’re crazy man, I can’t believe you did that.” The story then repeated a few times with Nick went there and back on a bike, on a bike carrying a dog, on a bike carrying a dog and juggling basketballs. Nick asked one more time, “Hey, do you think I could go there and back on a bike juggling basketballs while carrying a dog and a horse. Matt responded, “You’re crazy dude” but Nick went and came back. Matt said, “Wow, I know you could what ever you want, ride a bike on one foot juggling an entire circus and come back.” then Nick responded, “Ok then, jump on my back and let’s go together.” but Matt wouldn’t go.

The story is a little hard to tell typing but there is a lot we can learn from it. We can have faith that a lot of things can happen even a knowledge that they will, but our faith will be tried. What we do in that momement will determine if we really have faith or not.
