Pablo's Baptism

Pablo’s Baptism

I was only able to think of two things for Christmas, new razor blades for my electric razor (they are really old and they say to trade them every year), they are Philips Norelco razor heads #HQ8. The other thing I thought of was something like crest white strips or something to whiten my teeth. Other than this I don’t have much ideas.

We had a baptism this last week, his name is Pablo. He is a member’s kid. It was kind of interesting what helped him come to church. We had taught his friends mom and invited her to come to church. She didn’t end up coming but she sent her son which came with Pablo. Although her son didn’t continue going to church Pablo did and decided to be baptised. He is really shy and didn’t talk much in the lessons but he was really excited to be baptised. Oh, and he is 11.

Dad you asked what I would say to members… I think it would be something like this: Elder Bednar has taught that a real understanding of doctrine leads us to keep the commands. The doctrine of missionary work is that it is the work of salvation, then, in turn, we must understand salvation. What is the value firstly, of our salvation, and what price are we willing to pay for it? When what most occupies our souls is what will happen after I die, everything changes. Principally our outlook on our decision. First, we will desire our own slavation and after the salvation of our brothers, we could become as the sons of Mosiah,

“Now they were desirous that salvation should be declared to every creature, for they could not bear that any human soul should perish; yea, even the very thoughts that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to quake and tremble. And thus did the Spirit of the Lord work upon them, for they were the very vilest of sinners. And the Lord saw fit in his infinite mercy to spare them; nevertheless they suffered much anguish of soul because of their iniquities, suffering much and fearing that they should be cast off forever. And it came to pass that they did plead with their father many days that they might go up to the land of Nephi. And king Mosiah went and inquired of the Lord if he should let his sons go up among the Lamanites to preach the word. And the Lord said unto Mosiah: Let them go up, for many shall believe on their words, and they shall have eternal life.”

When we understand what is at stake for us, our friends, the stranger beside us, and our enemies, there is no price too great to pay. Eternity, an incomprehensible period of time, and where we will live in this eternity after this life is at stake. Personally, I don’t believe that people, myself included, think about this enough.

My suit wore out and I am going to have to buy a new one. The material isn’t holding up anymore and the pants have worn thin.

Love
